AMBER ALERT: ENOUGH WITH THE HAND HELD ALREADY

I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of the much overused hand held camera movies being made these days. Ever since the film makers behind THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT used it for effect it seems that anyone with a camera feels they can make a movie now without the use of a cinematographer or at least try to make it look that way. For me it just makes me seasick and nauseous to watch. I'm hoping it will stop soon. Calling it a "found footage" film does nothing to help it.

This time around we have three friends in a car driving around and noticing an Amber alert notification via sign on the side of the highway. The next thing you know they see a car that fits the description and call the police to let them know where they are. Here comes the first amazing piece of stupidity in the film. While they follow the car the police never seem to show up. Really? An Amber alert is posted and they have no way of showing up when a call comes in?

As the trio bickers among themselves as to what they should do, they continue to follow the car, eventually checking the car out after it pulls into a gas station. While they see things that could lead to them thinking this is indeed the kidnappers car, they're not quite sure so they keep following. Eventually the guy pulls over to the side of the road and they do the same. He gets out to talk to them, tells them they must be confused and drives off...with them still behind.

There is more that happens but not enough to make it worth going on here. The majority of the film is filled with the three friends arguing and yelling at one another more than anything else. The fact that it is a "found footage" film should clue you in as to the eventual outcome. Even that portion of the film is tedious to watch and displays characters so stupid that they deserve anything that happens to them.

With the non-existent appearance of the police in this film it would make you wonder where they were as each call is made to them. Between state and local police and the seriousness of an Amber alert it's hard to believe they never show at all. You could say that this is a suspension of belief needed to make the tension rise in this film but all it does is make it more unbelievable. Pass this one by.
